Using Master Pages
Use Master Pages to Give your web site a consistent look and feel

In WEBPLUS you have the option of setting up one or more master pages. You’ll find this option in the Studio Tabs area of WEBPLUS - just click on the site tab then click on the Master Pages Link. This will open up an area where you can see your master pages. It looks like this.

You can format a master page just like any other page, so you should set up the common dimensions of your web pages on your master page. You should also use the master page to create your header and main site navigation. This is also the page where you can create all your common graphic elements such as defined areas for text, areas for additional links etc. Here is a typical master page layout for this site.

Once you have a master page created, all the elements on that page will appear on every page based on your master page. All you have to do then is add appropriate content in the content areas of each page of your site. You can also define the elements at the foot of a master page to appear at the foot of every page by simply right-clicking the elements, and selecting Arrange/Attach to bottom of page. This will ensure your page footer always appears at the bottom of all pages even if your site pages are longer than your master page.

You can also automatically include your page titles by creating a text box on a master page, and use the Insert/Information/Page info/Page title function. We used this on the master page above where you see the word Home. We also included a date using the Date or time option instead of the Page title option.

Remember, you can create a number of different master pages to suit different content layouts. You simply apply the appropriate master page to each of your web site pages.
